Bio

Chido Mwat is a Zimbabwean comedian, writer, film and web content maker living in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia). Her debut satirical short ‘For Becky’ was featured on SBS, placed third at the Sunshine Short Film Festival (2021), and was an official section at the African Smartphone International Film Festival (2021). In 2022 she received funding from Creative Victoria Creative Projects Fund and the Hume City Council Arts grant to create, write, produce and direct her web series ‘Adult-erers’ on TikTok and Instagram. She has also worked across writing, directing and producing for projects for the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and Cinespace.

Chido is no stranger to the stage having performed her debut show ‘She-Nanigans the Show’ at The Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Melbourne Fringe (2022). In 2022 Chido was also selected to participate in the Melbourne Theatre Company x Emerging Writers's Festival program First Stage.

Chido has received training and education from AFTRS, The Improv Conspiracy Theatre (sketch and improvisation) , The People of Cabaret and the Behind the Screens program. When Chido is not being creative she works as a locum doctor in the Emergency Department. Her published research focuses on CALD communities. Chido has a passion for connecting with audiences through art - especially quirky comedy!
